The pharmaceutical industry is characterized as highly scientific and technology intense. While information technology is deployed in a wide variety of ways, it has only been in recent years that the industry has leveraged it in areas other than research. This presentation will briefly describe the overall structure of the industry and the process of discovery through commercial marketing. Examples of the current use of information technology and future opportunities will then be discussed. Presentation is by invitation only.
